You can upgrade v2 sites to the new Umso editor. We're currently working on a tool to migrate v1 sites to the new editor as well.
Background
As Umso evolved over the years, so did our editor. As we hit some limitations with our original editor we decided to create a new, separate editor with more modern technology. We ultimately ran into limitations with that second editor as well and decided to create a third one.
What editor is my site using?
To find out what editor version your site is using, go to the Umso app dashboard and look at the site meta (A) of the site. Next to the title, you will find a little badge showing the version number, either v1
, v2
, or v3
.
How do I upgrade to the new editor?
You can upgrade v2 sites to the v3 editor. To do so, click the 3-dot menu on the site dashboard and then click on "Migrate to new Editor". Then follow the instructions on the page.
Why upgrade?
We are constantly adding features and making improvements to our v3 editor. We still maintain the v1 and v2 editors and fix occasional bugs but will no longer release new features for them. To make use of the countless improvements we're making every month, you need to switch to the newest editor.
Do I have to upgrade?
No, you do not have to upgrade your site if you are happy with how it looks and want to avoid additional work associated with upgrading your site. We will not shut down the old editors as long as people are using them.
Will there be a v4?
No, there will not be another change that requires you to switch editors. We are making incremental improvements to our current editor without requiring customers to go through a migration process.
We have taken great care to design the system for editor v3 in a way that makes it future proof. Meaning we can improve upon this system continuously.
